Inauguration of IFFI: It’s finally Akshay Kumar, not Amitabh Bachchan!

It’s finally Akshay Kumar, who will be cutting the red ribbon to open the 43rd International Film Festival of India to be held in Panaji from November 20 this year.   As per latest, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan was also in the race of inaugurating the 10-day long film festival, however the organizer finally zeroed in on Akshay Kumar.  As per latest, Akshay has agreed to inaugurate the gala festival.  The central government’s information and broadcasting ministry funds the lion part of the total expenditure, and the Goa Government, which has been organizing the festival since 2004 funds the rest.  Vice chairman of the Entertainment society of Goa, Vishnu Wagh, said this year the festival will be a much grander event, as the festival could be opened at river jetty in the city instead of a usual indoor inauguration.  And as he said, this year more than 2,500 people will be attending the festival making it a huge event ever, because every year only 1000 invitees attended the festival.
