Bollywood finally recognized actress Deepika Padukone’s acting skill, as the Bollywood diva honored this year with the prestigious Smita Patil Memorial Award. Deepika, who started her career in showbiz as a model, debuted in ‘Om Shanti Om’ opposite Shah Rukh Khan; from ‘Om Shanti Om’ to very latest ‘Cocktail’, the 26-year old sexy actress simply went on creating the ripples stronger with her always signing performances. After receiving the award, Deepika, apparently looking applauded, said, “I have got this award at such an early stage of my career, definitely makes me feel like I must be doing something right.” “She’s (Smita Patil) someone whose work I admire a lot and an award named on her gives me the confidence to go ahead and choose the kind of films I have been doing and believe in the kind of roles that excite me,” added Deepika on the awards giving ceremony, held here on Tuesday. Deepika, very upbeat about her promising career, now hopes for a National award. On asked, she said, “That’s every actor’s dream. If the National award comes my way, it would be definitely a happiest moment for me”.
Deepika is now busy shooting Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next ‘Ram Leela’ with Ranvir Singh.
